Dr. Rashid Ilmi holds a BSc in Chemistry (2002), M.Sc in Materials Chemistry (2004) and Ph.D
in Chemistry (2013) from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India with the title “Mono- and
Dinuclear Lanthanide Complexes of Trifluoroacetylacetone and Heterocyclic Amines.
Syntheses, NMR, 4f – 4f Absorption and Photoluminescence”. His expertise includes synthesis
of organic molecules, coordination of these new molecules to metal centre and their
characterization with different spectroscopic techniques Fluorescence (steady state and timeresolved),
UV-visible, FT-IR, NMR. He also has expertise in performing the semi-empirical
quantum calculation to calculate the ground state geometries of lanthanide complexes with
Molecular Orbital PACkage (MOPAC). He joined EPOS-Iasis in 2014 and is currently working
on a joint project of University of Cyprus and EPOS-Iasis funded by the Research Promotion
Foundation of Cyprus with title “Multipotent theranostic metal-based scaffolds for molecular
targeting of colorectal cancer”.
